As a child, my family had a pet crow. Jeremiah lived in the tall trees that shaded our yard but would hang out on our windowsills and encourage us to come out and play. When our door opened, he was often waiting and would land on the shoulder of the first person to leave the house… this startled more than one guest. He teased our dog and endeared himself to all of us who were fortunate enough to share his life for a time. From Jerry the crow, I learned that crows are smart, funny and social. They collect, recycle, and use tools. These, I believe, are qualities worth honoring.

This window was created at the culmination of a three year residency at Penland School of Crafts with the help of a grant from United States Artists and the contributions of many friends. It was made for the front of what was then my home and is now Amazing Grace Spiritual Center, 2007 NW 61st St. Seattle WA, 98107
